State Laws on Restraint &
Behavior Intervention in Schools
This section is still a work in
progress. It contains some state laws that appear to specifically
address issues of restraints or behavior intervention of students in
schools. There are other laws out there as well, so do not assume that if
your state is not listed it does not have a law. Be sure to check with
your state department of education to see if there are any laws in your
state if they are not listed below.
The laws are state statutes or state
regulations or both. The legal citation for the statute or regulations
varies by state and is provided by section number along with an internet
link to ones found on the internet. The laws should be available at any
law library, state library, or perhaps through your state department of
education.
